<description><![CDATA[ The tragic euthanization of Eight Belles in last Saturday's running of the Kentucky Derby has left me conflicted about how we sacrifice animals for our own spirited enjoyment. Eight Belles had to be euthanized minutes after collapsing during the cool down lap at Churchill Downs. The runner-up filly had broken her two front ankles during a post race gallop while entering the second turn. ]]></description>

It is hard to believe the state of Texas could round up more than 400 children and place them all in foster care.
